Just a few comments on the movies folks are asking about:

Major movies, generally - I get a lot of people asking about whether will we play this movie or that movie. Generally speaking, we will play EVERY major motion picture, so you might as well wait to see it for half the price. The only exception is when one bombs, like Catwoman, or is released on video before we can run it, like RAY. But then if you had waited, you wouldn't have wasted your money!

When will we play a major movie?- This depends on when the other theaters are going to STOP running it. We are able to offer the prices that we have because we are willing to take a movie after the double-price theaters run it. Once they run a movie at the double-price places, they won't release it until business drops off to a certain point. So it's fair to say that if folks would quit going there, we can get it sooner here! Some people just can't wait to see a movie, so that's okay. But if you don't go over there in the first couple of weeks, just wait until we have it at Collins Road. Then YOU can save a lot of money! Not to mention better service and lower concession prices!

What about movies that have already finished at the other theatres? - It depends on many factors. Once the other guys are done, I can usually play them. There are two distributors, Buena Vista (Disney, et. al) and Warner Brothers that insist that I wait 2 weeks after the other guys are done. They are protecting the double price tickets. When and if we play any second-run movie depends on schedule availability, anticipated attendance, other first-run movie availability and other factors. We have to weigh one potential movie against another potential movie every week and decide what will work best. That means that it may be a while until we get a chance to play a particular one that you might be interested in.

Will we play EVERY movie listed above? - Unfortunately, while we will run almost all of them, sometimes we can't get an opportunity to run one that you have been waiting for. All of the movies above are on our "wish list". We have 5 screens and even though we often can show 6 or 7 movies at a time by staggering times, we still cannot run all of them. We have to prioritize them so sometimes a film may be put off long enough that it is no longer of interest or released on DVD or something like that. At that point, we have to remove it from the list. Even though the movie is always better on the big screen, sometimes attendance would be so low that we can no longer afford to run it.

How can you help assure that we will run a particular movie? - There is no guaranteed way, but one thing that will help is your setting up your own movie list on Movie Times News. When you add a movie to your list, two things happen: First, I get a count of the number of people that have added a particular movie to their list. That helps in prioritizing the most popular movies. Second, when we book the movie, you get an email letting you know that we have it so you can plan to come and see it. It helps both ways, I know someone is waiting for it and you know when we get it. Movie Times News can be set up to not send you a weekly email, so you are only notified of the movies you want to see. Pretty cool, huh!
